VIDEO TRANSCRIPT: My name is Stacey Stevens. I’m a partner with Thomson Rogers in the personal injury group, and I’ve been doing personal injury work now for almost twenty years.

I remember back to one day in my grade six class; the teacher accused one of my classmates of doing something that I knew she didn’t do. I stood up, I went to the teacher and I was able to convince her that she was wrong. That’s the point where I knew I wanted to advocate for people who had been wronged.

I chose personal injury law because I knew that was the one area of law that I could actually make a difference. People don’t choose to get into accidents. It’s something that happens; it’s a moment in time where their lives can be devastated. Families are turned upside down. Quite often they’re left in the most vulnerable state they’ve ever been in; they’re afraid, and they don’t know where to turn.

Working with catastrophically injured people and their families, it allows me to lift that burden off of their shoulders. I get to be their fiercest advocate, as well as their most compassionate, understanding, and empathetic ally.

I get to know my clients. I get to understand who they were before the accident happened. That way, we can work together to build a team of professionals that will help restore them to the lives that they once had.

I recognize that compensation is important. Catastrophically injured people are going to have ongoing medical and rehabilitation needs for the rest of their lives, and it’s going to be expensive, so I work very hard to leave no stone unturned, to make sure that they have enough money so they’re going to be able to live out the rest of their lives comfortably.

When I’m not in the office, I love to spend time with my family; I have two sons and two granddaughters. I love to travel, and I’ve learned that photography is an amazing outlet.

I think clients choose me to represent them because I really do care. I’ve had challenges and struggles in my own life that I’ve had to overcome. For me, that helps me relate to the struggles and challenges that my clients are going through.

What’s also important to me is seeing my clients succeed. Watching them get back up on their feet, and living a full and happy life.
